Amuse Your Bouche Issue

Issue 39 (Spring 2023)

Amuse Your Bouche, an issue named after the small pre-meal morsel served mostly in super bougie restaurants to get your juices flowing, is filled with a smorgasbord of delicious things. Star of Netflix hit Al Rawabi School For Girls, Noor Taher, goes on a Gucci-fueled tour of the best of Dubai dining, and in Beirut, we recreated prolific 20th Century author Barbara Cartland’s quintessential cookbook, The Romance of Food. But it isn’t just food we amuse our bouches with. In The Art of Amusing One’s Bouche, we explore the freudian-coined concept of oral fixation. Our dutiful contributor Jamie Bell boldly bought 8 flavored sex products and reviewed each one – you could call it taking 8 for the team. We explore the world of elite and paid dating, because let’s be honest, if you’re paying for it, it better taste amazing. We delve into smells that get our blood pumping, because nerves in our noses identify taste too. And with secrets gleaned from Masti’s bar manager, Jeet Verma, a recipe book of the most mouthwatering cocktails in the country. But amongst all this bouche amusing, the chef’s kiss, the crème de la crème, the icing on the cake, the cherry on top (of the icing on the cake) – Georgina Rogríguez. With the second season of her hit Netflix series I Am Georgina just released to an insatiable global audience, photographer Desiree Mattsson captures her first cover since she moved to Saudi Arabia, and with it, every ounce of finger-licking flavor.
